Expensive Spring Decor on a Budget | Pottery Barn and Pier 1 Dupes with Dollar Tree Finds!

Stuck at home? I have 2 Easter look for less DIY’s just for you. One is a Pottery Barn dupe and one is a Pier One copycat. They’re each made for $2 or less. If you want to watch how I did these, check out the video below!

dupe #1 // pottery barn bunny bowl

Here is the inspiration for the bunny bowl. We are going to make this bowl, which costs $29.50 from Pottery Barn. We are going to make it for only $2 with our Dollar Tree finds.

These ceramic painting sets from Dollar Tree came with a tiny paintbrush and some acrylic paint.

These were meant to be hung up, so the first thing I did was remove the hook with some pliers and then filled in the hole. Wood filler worked just fine on the ceramic, and then I sanded it down along with sanding any little imperfections on the ceramic egg and bunny.

Just a little gorilla glue on the edge of the bowl to attach the bunny. Make sure it is supported while it dries. I cleaned up any drips of glue before it dried, and waited a few hours to make sure it was really on there well.

Then I added a little white paint to finish off the bunny and now it matches the bowl and looks like one piece. Easy, cute and so elegant for Easter.

dupe #2 // pier 1 wine stopper

This was the inspiration for my easter egg wine stopper from Pier 1. This was regularly priced at $19 and we are going to make it for only $1.

I don’t have the best eyesight, so my version will NOT be as detailed as this one, but I was definitely inspired by this gorgeous Easter egg! The one we’re making will even be wine proof, so no worries about spills! You could also use the ceramic bunny from Dollar Tree as a wine stop and paint him gold like this one – that would be a super cute option too!

You saw how we got to this step. It’s the same as the bunny bowl – remove the hook, fill with putty and sand down.

how to make a wine stopper

We are going to use some oil based paint markers. If you’ve never used these before be careful on their first use because a lot of paint comes out.

I was using a new Sharpie marker and it dripped all over. Since this is oil based, it really gets on your hands.

pro crafter tip

Try this all natural nail polish remove from Karma Naturals. It is SO good for not only removing nail polish, but also for removing paint on your hands when doing crafts. It has lavender oil and soybean oil and is actually really gentle and moisturizing. Love this stuff!

I painted the egg with some festive colors, using the paint markers.

Then I wanted to see what happened if I baked this in the oven. Baking is supposed to make it waterproof and dishwasher safe, which I thought could come in handy if a wine spill happened. You are supposed to let the paint set for 8 hours, then put it in a cool oven, and bake for 40 minutes at 375.

I was a little disappointed because it seemed to darken the colors and even cracked the color in a few places. so unless you really wanted to make sure it was waterproof, I wouldn’t do the baking for this project.

The last step is to pop that wine cork on there with some Gorilla Glue. This stuff really holds well and dries fast.

Now, we have our fun little wine stopper with that Dollar Tree find done and ready for drinking!
